In working with prospective college applicants we see one of our main responsibilities as providing each student with a well-researched and broad college list that is uniquely tailored to the interests and profile of each student. Our goal is to find schools that are a great match for each student and where we feel the student would thrive.
In order to do this, we spend a great deal of time researching different colleges and universities to learn about their academic programs, extracurricular activities, student life, campus culture and the surrounding community. Much of this research is conducted online as well as through professional networks and a wide variety of print resources. One of the most important ways of researching, though, is through actual visits to campuses around the country where we can talk to current students and admissions officials as well as actually peek into dorm rooms, sample cafeteria food, read the signs posted on bulletin boards. All of this research helps us to form a nuanced portrait of individual schools which in turn helps us create a list of colleges and universities that would be the best fit for our clients.
